"We're aiming high." Pharmaceutical industry: reports should go straight to the prime minister

"The topic of drug production support seems organized and secure, but the devil is in the details. When we delve into the details, the number of programs designed to finance or co-finance the pharmaceutical sector is quite large, but none addresses the need to finance the production, manufacture of critical drugs, or substances for critical drugs," notes Aneta Grzegorzewska, Director of Corporate Affairs and External Relations at Gedeon Richter Polska and a member of the board of the FARMACJA POLSKA Chamber of Commerce.
"A change in thinking is definitely required, a change in programs, and a clarification in these programs that they are about infrastructure for critical drugs. Then there's a chance these funds will be directed towards the production of critical drugs. Otherwise, these are fragmented tasks, fragmented projects addressed to all industries, from which, from time to time, the pharmaceutical sector can "extract" a project," he adds.
He emphasizes that the application process for programs must be structured differently: "We need to share our experiences and expertise. The administration clearly lacks understanding of what pharmacy is really about."
Another aspect is the coordination of these activities by one person or even a coordination team.
"For years, pharmaceutical production has generally been associated with the Ministry of Health, which is also, de facto, the beneficiary of our production. However, it is at the end of the 'food chain.' What we want to achieve today is to reverse this narrative and restore its reality, namely that the pharmaceutical industry is the responsibility of a ministry specifically designed for this purpose—in this case, the Ministry of Development and the Economy."
" I know we're aiming high, but I think the Prime Minister also perfectly understands the needs and situation we find ourselves in today . In a recent poll, when asked what Poles need today, the answer was that they expect the government to provide, first and foremost, military security, and secondly, health security. We have two basic demands, expressed simply. I think the Prime Minister is the person to whom the coordinator should report on the results ," emphasizes the head of Gedeon Richter Polska.
